Continuing Professional Development

Mission Statement

To provide timely, relevant and informative continuing professional development for members of the Department of Psychiatry and London Hospitals. Our target audience encompasses students, residents, physicians and an interprofessional team collaborative. By use of evidence based skills, scholarly practice and interprofessional resources, our mandate is to provide evidence-informed clinical decisions to enhance patient outcomes.

Western Psychiatry CPD Monthly Rounds

Second Thursday of the month, from 8:30-10:30 am, throughout the academic year, unless otherwise notified.

Location: Zone B, 2nd floor, Auditorium Room No. 119 (B2-119), London Health Sciences Centre, Victoria Hospital; teleconferenced to ECP and SWOMEN plus their affiliates via the Division of Social and Rural Psychiatry.

Continuing Professional Development Rounds are a self-accredited group learning activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (2).

2. Characterize future directions for the Department
3. Discuss the next steps in enacting our vision of the Department

Learning After Five

Third Tuesday of the month, from 5:30-8:30 pm, throughout the academic year.

Due to the self- accredited nature of these rounds at this time, only Section 1 MOCOMP credits through RCPSC are available for this learning activity.

Coordinated CPD Program

Mondays, from 12:00-1:00 pm, throughout the academic year, unless otherwise notified. Events are presented live or videoconferenced to hospital staff located at Regional Mental Health Care London (RMHCL) and St. Thomas (RMHCST), their community programs and the London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC).

The Coordinated CPD Program is a self-accredited group learning activity (Section 1) as defined by the MAINTENANCE OF CERTIFICATION Program of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

This program meets the accreditation criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been accredited for up to 1.0 MAINPRO-M1 credits.

February 20, 2012: No presentation on Family Day.

February 27, 2012: Dr. Maryna Mammoliti will present: "Eating Disorders in the 21st Century: What is the World Coming to?"

Advance Notice: March 26, 2012: Dr. David Laing Dawson will present: "The Art of Medicine and the Medicine of Art"

This presentation will include the film: Schizophrenia in Focus.

Because of the longer length of the session (12:00-1:30 pm), a light lunch (at 11:30 am) will be available at the three main sites: RMHCL, RMHCS and MH-LHSC.
