Nature of Experience:

General Adult Psychiatry at Riverview Centre (30 bed Psychiatric Acute Care Unit of the Sault Area Hospitals) in Sault Ste. Marie. Training opportunities are available in the following areas:

• Outpatient Rotation: Residents will have exposure to a broad range of diagnosis. Inpatient and outpatient group opportunities, cognitive-bahavioural therapy, long-term psychodynamic psychotherapy, integrative psychotherapy, and family therapy.
• Inpatient Rotation: Opportunity to to work in the assessment and management of patients with acute psychiatric disorders as well as psychiatric emergencies in a team environment. Treatment includes, phramaco-therapy, ECT, psychotherapies and strategies aimed at minimizing social stressors.

Patient Population:

• General psychiatry
• Adult Population

• 690 Km from Toronto
• Direct flight leave Monday, return Wednesday

• A range of good quality hotels. Or, for a month long stay, a pleasant apartment overlooking the river.

Population:

• 80,000 [plus 41,000 throughout Algoma district] with 82.5% English speaking.
