Initiated in February 1996, the Psychiatric Outpatient clinic in Sault Ste. Marie has been well established.

• Drs. Melissa Andrew, Jean Byers, Robert Cooke, Sam Malcolmson, Ty Turner continue to provide direct consultation and follow-up two days each way.
• Dr. Henry Leung, who provides emergency care, and Royanne Mitchell, Clinical Nurse Specialist, who provides follow-up and liaison care between the consultants and the referring physicians coordinate services locally.
• Kathleen McLean, social worker, was added to the team to assist in providing follow-up care.
• Former senior resident, Dr. Andrew joined the team as a consultant in 1998. Along with Dr. Byers, Dr. Andrew provides geriatric psychiatry consultations to residents of the Sault's local nursing homes and long term care facilities. Dr. Andrew also provides much needed service to communities east of Sault, including Thessalon and Bruce Mines. 
• Dr. Turner provides a monthly educational series for approximately 12 staff at the Canadian Mental Health Association.
• Dr. Malcolmson provides seminar consultation for the Day Treatment program staff. The consultants also present workshops, symposiums and lectures to Sault and area family physicians and mental health workers.

Elective Opportunities:

Supervised by site medical coordinators.

Time Frame:

a) 2 days per month for 3-12 months, or
b) one month, any time
