Supervision
Site Coordinators: Dr. Robert Cooke, Dr. Henry Leung

• 2-day trips supervised by University of Toronto Faculty.
• 1-month trips supervised by Dr. Henry Leung, Chief of Psychiatry SAH (Sault Area Hospitals).
• case by case, resident sees patients independently, focusing on general psychiatry and mental health consultation, including out-patient, Native mental health, and community consultation, as well as collaboration and indirect consultation with the on-site multi-disciplinary team.
• 6-month core rotation in General Adult Psychiatry supervised by Dr. Henry Leung.
• 6-month core rotation in Consultation Liaison

Time Frame:

• a) 2 days per month for 3-12 months, or
• b) one month, any time
• a commitment of one trip per month for four consecutive months is suggested to allow for a balance of consultation and follow-up and continuity in community development

Nature of Experience:

• shared care model of service delivery
• outpatient consultation at Sault Area Hospitals
• consults in GPs' offices and community outreach pending
• emphasis on physician education as well as treatment/management
• adult general psychaitry, in- and out-patient, core rotation

Patient Population:

• general psychiatry
• mostly adults, but an interested resident can arrange to see children and geriatric patients
