| Agency Information: | Since 1994, this mental health agency has been funded by the Medical
Services Branch of the Federal Government and is run by Sioux Lookout First Nations Health
Authority. The patient population is almost entirely Native - children to geriatrics, and there is a lot of liaison work with GP's, Native mental health workers, teachers, band councils, and nurses. Much of the work is conducted through an interpreter, patient is seen by psychiatrist with the opportunity for a wealth of cross-cultural experience. Native speaking counselors counsel their own people. |

| Collaborating Ontario Medical Schools: | University of Toronto Psychiatric Outreach Programs Beginning in September of 1996, two ten-day trips per psychiatrist were re-established, with funding for transportation and accommodation shared by the Underserviced Areas Program for three days, and seven days by NODIN. Resident electives are available for three days. |
