ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Dr. Williamson has developed a unique approach
to postgraduate training. Over several years, he has co-supervised MSc and PhD
students with Dr. Dick Drost, Dr. Jean Théberge and Dr. Terry Thompson. With
this approach, students develop a unique skill set in neurophysiology, neuroanatomy, clinical neuropsychiatry, medical biophysics and the application
of brain imaging techniques. Graduates have gone on to faculty positions at
Harvard, Pittsburgh and Wayne State. Dr. Williamson continues to co-supervise an
MSc and a PhD student in Medical Biophysics, and a postdoctoral student, Dr.
Kristen Ford with Dr. Osuch. Naoko Aoyama, a PhD candidate in Medical Biophysics
from Japan, co-supervised by Dr. Williamson, successfully defended her thesis in
May 2011. Dr. Williamson was an external PhD examiner at the University of
Aarhus, Denmark in March 2011. Dr. Lanius has been supervising a postdoctoral
fellow a visiting MSc student from Germany. Dr. Nicolson co-supervises a PhD
student in Medical Biophysics.
Dr. Mitchell has been very active with graduate
training. He currently supervises two MSc students in the Neuroscience program
and one PhD student in Anatomy and Cell Biology. Dr. Rushlow is the Associate
Chair for Graduate Studies in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology and
currently supervises two PhD students. Dr. Rajakumar is thesis advisor and
mentor to six PhD students in Anatomy and Cell Biology.
